IFA Management takes the health and safety of staff, contractors, and clients very seriously. Each person onsite during build-up and breakdown must read, understand, and follow these event site rules.


Entry Requirements - We highly recommend that you wear:

  • Thick-soled, fully enclosed shoes
  • High-visibility jacket

Be Aware

Firstly, be aware of the types of accidents most likely to happen on the exhibition site:

  • Vehicle and machinery accidents
  • Falls from height and being struck by falling objects
  • Accidents with hand and power tools

Secondly, be aware of your employer’s inductions and instructions:

  • Your employer should provide a task-specific induction or toolbox talk on arrival
  • You must understand and apply your employer’s instructions to the work you do

General

  • Keep your work area tidy to avoid slips, trips, and falls
  • Keep emergency aisles clear at all times
  • Always follow the instructions of the Health & Safety Manager and organiser
  • Visually check any equipment before use and report concerns immediately
  • Everyone must consider the safety of themselves and others at all times
  • Contractors must remove their waste from site
  • Alcohol, smoking, e-cigarettes, and vaping are not permitted
  • Dangerous working may result in suspension; repeat offences may lead to removal from site

Traffic, use of vehicles and operation of machinery:

  • Be aware of moving traffic in loading areas and plant in the hall
  • A valid full driving licence is required for the vehicle being operated, along with proof of training and employer authorisation
  • Passengers must not be carried on forklifts, dumpers, or vehicles not designed for passengers
  • Authorisation to drive may be removed by the organiser for repeated breaches

Work at height:

  • Avoid working at height where possible
  • Only use suitable towers, ladders, or stepladders, and ensure they are used safely

Use of power tools:

  • Training and employer authorisation are required to use power tools
  • Use appropriate PPE such as eye and hearing protection where required
  • All venue rules and guidelines must be followed
